Study finds Sickle Cell Gene Does Not Elevate Death Risk

An extensive medical study of military personnel with the sickle cell gene has shown that carrying the gene does not elevate the death risk from exhaustion relative to the general population. This means that, more likely than not, Harrington was right when he asserted that Ted Agu required no special monitoring during conditioning drills.

While Cal paid over 4 million dollars to settle with the Agu family, it is seems unlikely that Cal should have been held liable for his death. Of course, fighting the family in court would have been terrible PR, so the settlement may not have been the worst idea in the world.

One caveat: The study was conducted by Furd doctors, so there is a chance its findings are gobbledygook.
