RJ Jones is likely going to end up as the most important recruit in the class at Cal. Since joining the class back in February he has been hard at work trying to get other high-level prospects to join him with the Bears. He was part of the big junior day and he says he is working on setting up a visit with four-star Oregon commit Cole Martin as well, so he will be back on campus a lot in the future before he arrives for good next year. Jones is taking pride in his role as recruiter and there are a bunch of players he has on his radar. He is a popular guy and has connections with all of them, but his big focus right now off the field is getting other top recruits to join him with the Bears.

I spent the afternoon yesterday watching Jones and his team at St. John Bosco hold a spring workout, and he is certainly an impressive player. They aren't in pads but he definitely has a presence about him on the field. He's the clear leader on that side of the ball for his team, and he made a ton of really strong plays throughout the day. He was wearing his Cal gloves at the workout and continues to hold the program in high regard.

“The future is bright at Cal. Not a lot of schools play freshmen, but Cal they played probably three or four freshmen just at defensive back alone. So, being with those guys knowing that I have an opportunity to play early it can influence a lot of recruits also, because our main goal is to get on the field and go pro for most of us. So, when you can go to a school like Cal, a Pac-12 school, play early, learn on and off the field, I think it’s the place to be.”
