Saw on another Board several reports (complete with Tweets from various sports reporters) that Illinois Head Football Coach Tim Beckman was fired today.
Pretty drastic action to take, and seemingly so summarily, just prior to the start of football season. A couple of the reports indicated that the firing was based on some kind of investigation that disclosed Fighting Illini players were encouraged not to report, or to underreport, injuries, that they were pushed back on the field, etc. I guess the school concluded that Beckman and his staff were putting players' health behind the team's won-loss record. I'm sure that a lot more information is likely to come out about this.
Wonder what anyone else has heard about this.
