Prior to the NC Meyer is riding the NCAA about allocating funds to the players families so they could attend the game. Noble gesture. Now, the 5 star running back that was from Michigan signs with Ohio State and then learns, presumably after the fact that the main recruiter and running backs coach is jumping ship to the NFL. The NCAA needs to step in an allow players, who have signed with a university the ability to recant their LOI without sacrificing any eligibility if a coach on a team that they sign with leaves the staff prior to their enrolling into school and/or commencing with fall workouts.
The naysayers would say it would make this a form of free agency, not true because it would be conditioned on a coach on staff that recruited him leaving the staff prior to his enrollment and the player would not be allowed any additional visits and the contact with any prospective university would be limited to telephone calls and no in home visits. The player runs the risk of their being no scholarships available, but to prevent a kid from transferring without consequence is not in the best interest of the student athlete.
