I know the 38-3 score was mentioned briefly in another thread, but given that we play Texas in 2 weeks I thought this worth it's own thread.

A few things to highlight about how Texas performed today:
  • Offense only had 163 total yards (compared to 527 for ND)
  • Offense had only 8 first downs and 60 yards rushing (average of 2.1 ypc)
  • ND had a time of possession advantage of 39 minutes to 21 minutes
  • It wasn't like Texas had unfortunate turnovers that were converted to points. Neither team had any turnovers...it was just Texas not having a good enough defense to stop ND, and Texas not having a good enough offense to get first downs
  • QB Swoopes was only 7/22 for only 93 yards
  • No Texas rusher was over 40 yards
  • Texas got off to a slow start...in the 1Q they had 6 offensive possessions (5 punts) and 3 of those possessions were 3 and out
This is just week 1, but this feels like part of a bigger trend for their team (carrying over the final Texas games of 2014). Hope this is an early indicator that we'll start 3-0 entering conference play!
