Cal has offered Nevada bounceback and current College of the Canyons (Santa Clarita, Calif.) edge rusher Henry Ikahihifo tonight. He is an intriguing 2022 recruit because he has reinvented himself after playing quite a bit through two seasons with the Wolfpack. He was a three-star recruit in the 2019 class as a tight end and played the position for two seasons at Nevada. He ultimately decided to enter the transfer portal after the 2020 season before ending up at the junior college level in 2021. He will have a couple seasons of eligibility left and was productive in his first season as a defensive player. He finished 2021 with 32 tackles and 5 1/2 sacks plus 11 tackles for loss, a forced fumble and four pass breakups. San Jose State has been the program most involved in his recruitment up to this point. He also picked up an offer from North Texas today and UNLV also recently offered him.
He had a good amount of Power 5 interest as a high school recruit, and he ultimately picked up a good amount of offers. Iowa State, UCLA, Notre Dame, Utah, Purdue, Baylor and BYU were some of the schools that offered him as a high school player.
