Hey guys, I had a chat with Vance Jackson today. Before I write up an article on my conversation with him, here are some key things that stood out to me.
#1. Education is important to him: Vance told me that the academics at Cal make Cal a more attractive option than other schools.
#2. Move to Napa: I asked Vance Jackson about his transfer to Prolific Prep in Napa. He said the main reason he made this transfer is to play with better competition. Josh Jackson, one of the nation's top high school players is also on this team. He feels that going to this school will better prepare him for the D-1 level.
#3. Strengths: Vance told me his main strength is his overall versatility. He said he is good at taking bigs off the dribble, posting up smaller guys, etc.
#4. Decision: Vance says he probably won't make a decision until sometime next year, which is later than Charlie Moore's target date of sometime in November.
#5. Relationship with the program: Vance says he has a great relationship with the Cal coaching staff, namely assistant coach Yanni Hufnagel and head coach Cuonzo Martin. He says that they have been in contact with him more than any other school. He says that while he hasn't yet visited Cal, he will definitely make a visit.
#6. Other possible schools: Utah, Memphis, Washington, USC, Arizona, UNC, and UConn are all after him. UConn seems to be a strong contender since he told me that UConn is the other school he definitely plans to visit.
