Looking ONLY at RS and True Frosh OR sophs who have not played (never set foot on the field):

Who do you think we play a material role for our Cal football team in 2016 and why?

I'll kick it off:

Semisi Uluave: Reports where that he was our most talented OG last year as a true frosh. Saw him dominate 1:1 drills against veteran DL. Body is more than ready. Struggled a bit IMO with the mental aspects of playing the OL and with injuries/conditioning. Has to be the odds on favorite to take Rigsbee's spot or perhaps even play center?

Carlos Strickland: He has the body and athleticism. Had to adjust to not being able to out run and out jump people any more. Route running was a little sloppy as well. If the light goes on, he's got a great chance to be a weapon in the passing game.

Brandon Singleton: Early in camp last year, he looked to me like the most explosive player on the team. He lost his legs and struggled to overcome some dings thus the redshirt year. Quick and fast, he's got that "it" factor. With added strength, I see him as being our primary PR/KR and big play WR weapon in 2016

Jaylinn Hawkins: He was just behind Singleton in my eye early in camp last year in terms of raw athleticism. Hurt his shoulder and had to redshirt. Solidly built and can really run with great hips. I think he and Psalms will get a great chance to win the open CB spot. If he's gone over 200lbs, he could also sneak into the safety discussion opposite Drew.

Malik Psalms: Looks the part physically. Tall, muscular and can run. Fought the true frosh endurance and injury blues. Raw talent says he and Hawkins are our best bets for White's open CB spot. Love the competition we're going to have at CB when you factor in Albert, Coleman, Franklin and the incoming frosh.

Russell Ude: Big time recruit at a position where we're thin. Heard good things about his motor and strength last year though he was clearly not quick enough to be an outside pass rusher and last year was too small to see the field at DT. I'd assume he'll come into Spring at 275-280 and ready to roll

Chris Palmer: Thought he flashed at camp last Fall. DT is a position of need. I think both he and Bequette play a lot and I'll got with Palmer as the guy who makes the most impact

Jordan Veasy: Looks ready to play as a WR - really nice footwork and the type of body and speed we want on the outside. Given we need our WRs to block, his JC experience will be a boon.

Evan Weaver: If healthy, he's in the two deeps. He's got the size and strength to play tomorrow. We need pass rushers and athletic DEs and he's just what the doctor ordered. Tough for true frosh to impact at that position but he'll get every chance.

Melquise Stovall: The only other true frosh that I think is an impact player. Polished WR and ST dynamo could end up starting by seasons end at Bryce Treggs slot position.

Dwayne Wallace: I think he's in the mix right away for the open OG slot and perhaps he impacts our decision at center as well. Key for him is pass protection assignments. If he gets that down, he'll play.
