Cal isn't the only school that has been left holding the bag due to less than optimal buyout terms in a former coach's contract...

Amazingly, Charlie Weis was paid/is still owed about $24 million collectively by Notre Dame and Kansas (mostly Notre Dame, but Kansas' buyout of Fat Charlie was/is bigger than our Tedford buyout). Weis is getting paid a small fortune by two different universities to not coach their football teams. Talk about rewarding failure...Pelini, Chizik, and Muschamp are also being paid handsomely to stay the hell away from the football programs at Nebraska, Auburn, and Florida, respectively.

Mack Brown technically wasn't even fired -- he resigned -- but he still gets almost $3 million from Texas for not coaching, on top of half a mil a year to work elsewhere in the athletic department. Not bad.

Special award for extreme incompetence goes to South Florida, which gave Skip Holtz an extension and then fired him about 5 months later, resulting in an extra $1.5 million on his buyout.
