I'm not saying Alabama could become the #1 public school in the near future, but if you extrapolate over decades, Alabama very well could be on a much more sound financial footing than Cal because its football program was prioritized and used as an impetus for growth, and that in fact could chip away at Cal's public university academic dominance.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if Alabama did in fact become Cal's academic equal only because Cal didn't bother to care about its football program and Alabama did. I wonder what jagoffs like Barsky would say then.
