For being awarded the Medal of Freedom. Richly deserved.
I may be a Dodger fan, but Willie Mays is my favorite baseball player of all time, BY FAR. I have idolized him since I was six years old. I also happen to think he is the best all around player of all time, better than Ruth, Aaron and Williams.
I don't intend this post to have any political component whatsoever. I don't care who awarded the medal to Mays. I'm just glad he got it. He is 84 years old, does not have many years left, and deserves any and all awards and honors that he receives. It will be a profoundly sad day in this household when he passes on.
