There were a lot of big matchups this week. Here are some early returns.

  • Zion Echols! 6 touchdowns for the electric back, 5 rushing and a 98 yard kickoff return in Charter Oak's 42-14 win over previously undefeated Chino. Echols finished with 17 carries for 148 yards.
  • Matt Laris caught two touchdowns: 8 and 78 yards, as Eastside Catholic hammered previously undefeated Bishop Blanchet 54-6.
  • Derrick Clark rushed for 108 yards and a the game-winning 2-yard touchdown dive as Mission Bay squeaked by rival La Jolla 14-13 to remain unbeaten.
  • Max Gilliam and Thousand Oaks got absolutely smoked by Oaks Christian in what was expected to be a competitive game between two unbeatens. It was 41-0 at half and the final score was 48-7. Gilliam was sacked 4 times and the Lancers only managed 201 yards of total offense. He had a 57 yard TD pass called back due to penalty.
  • Evan Weaver bossed up at fullback for Gonzaga Prepe, rushing for 119 yards an 2 touchdowns on 19 carries as the Bullpups beat previously undefeated University 28-6. Weaver and the defense held University to just 152 yards of offense on the day.
