When I scouted for Quadra in 1975 (Quadra serviced the 49ers, rams, chargers and Cowboys---Seattle was added two years later) hampton poole, told me something I haven't forgotten--he said measurements relating to 40 yard times as well as the proper height and weight for positions are, naturally important, but never discount the value of "winners." Hampton defined a "winner' as someone who was naturally tough, had good character, played hard on every snap and was willing to get his nose dirty on every play. There are many players in the NFL who are still playing well past their prime because they possess the above qualities though their " measurements' fall short. For this reason, if I'm Baalke, I take a flyer on Hogan in thgew fourth round. He may not be a classic prototype NFL QB at this point, but he's a guy you want with you in thge foxhole or in a bar fight. Once you've reached thge fourth round you are pretty much throwing darts against the board anyway---how about Goff in thew first round and Hogan in thge fourth round???BTW, Poole died about a year ago---great guy---quadra disbanded in 1977--Carroll Rosenbloom of thge Rams thought we were too expensive . We wewre an ancillary scouting service headquartered in Palo Alto.
