Cal was one of the very early offers for 4-star 2023 linebacker Tre Edwards. He has remained in contact with the staff, and because the coaches he started building a relationship have remained in place that has helped the Bears start to separate themselves from the other schools in pursuit. He said he hasn't talked with the new coaches at schools like USC or Oregon yet, so he simply has a better relationship with a program like Cal. Academics are going to be really important for him, and that is definitely an appealing aspect of his interest in the Bears. He's not moving too quickly through the process, but he is hoping to line up some visits soon.
He had nearly 130 tackles and eight sacks in 2021 at Mater Dei HS down in Chula Vista during an undefeated season for his team.
